At Upside Down Therapy, we work within a developmental therapy model grounded in neuroscience, supporting children with sensory, motor, emotional, social and communication needs to build on their strengths through playful, evidence-based therapy. When children play, they’re not just having fun, they’re developing the foundations for emotional regulation, confidence, and lifelong learning.
We believe in meeting every child where they’re at and walking alongside families to create meaningful, lasting change. Therapy should never be one-size-fits-all. That’s why we don’t follow rigid programs. Instead, we offer individualised, child-focused, family-centred support that adapts to the unique needs of your child and your family.
At the heart of our approach is sensory integration. We believe that in order for children to regulate, connect, and learn, they first need to feel safe in their bodies and in their environments. When a child struggles to process the sensory world – from sounds and movement to emotions and internal signals, it can be hard to stay calm, focus, or feel confident.
That’s where we come in. By using playful, purposeful activities that follow the child’s lead, we build regulation, resilience, and readiness for everyday life. Our sessions are fun, engaging, and always guided by therapeutic intention, because we know that when therapy is meaningful to the child, the outcomes are lasting.
We offer a variety of therapy models and session types to suit the individual needs of our families, all delivered in our welcoming, state-of-the-art therapy spaces.
Ayres Sensory Integration® (ASI®)

Effective sensory processing is the cornerstone of healthy development. When children can process sensory information effectively, they can engage, learn, and grow with confidence.
Our therapy is based on Ayres Sensory Integration® (ASI®), an evidence based approach that strengthens the brain’s ability to process and respond to sensory information. When sensory processing is challenging, it can impact a child’s ability to focus, regulate emotions, participate in play, learn new motor skills, and feel comfortable in their body and environment.
Each session is purposeful, goal-driven, and tailored to your child’s individual needs. Our therapists are committed to staying at the forefront of research and best practice, delivering high-quality, compassionate care.
DIR® Floortime™

“Relationships are the foundation for development. Through connection and play, children build the skills they need to understand themselves, relate to others, and engage with the world.”
DIR® Floortime™ is a relationship-based approach that focuses on supporting a child’s social, emotional, and cognitive development through meaningful, child-led interactions. Instead of directing the child, we join them in their world – following their interests, building connection, and gently guiding them toward new developmental milestones.
Our therapists are trained to recognise the unique ways each child engages and processes the world, and use this understanding to nurture their growth through warm, playful, and respectful interactions.
Did you know?

Sensory processing differences are a natural part of neurodiversity. Around 5% to 16% of children in the general population experience variations in how they process sensory information. These differences are more common in neurodivergent children, particularly those who are Autistic or have ADHD and can impact a child’s regulation and ability to engage in everyday tasks.
Research shows that up to 88% of Autistic children experience sensory processing differences that influence how they engage with the world, including how they experience sound, touch, movement, and internal body signals (Mahmoud et al., 2024).
Similarly, around 50% of children with ADHD show unique sensory profiles. These may include a need for more movement, sensitivity to noise or touch, or difficulty filtering sensory input, all of which can impact participation in daily routines, learning environments, and social settings (Mahmoud et al., 2024).
At Upside Down Therapy, we recognise that sensory processing is deeply personal. Our role isn’t to “fix” how a child experiences the world, but to work alongside them and their families to understand their needs, honour their preferences, and create supportive environments where they can feel safe, regulated, and empowered to participate in ways that are meaningful to them.
