Skyla Cuthbert

Meet Our Occupational Therapist

Skyla is an Occupational Therapist originally from New Zealand who brings a warm, empathetic and playful approach to her work with children and families. She believes that “little things aren’t little for everyone” and recognises that everyday experiences can look and feel very different for each child. Skyla enjoys supporting children across kindergarten, school and clinic settings, helping them participate in the activities that matter to them and celebrating the wins that are meaningful to each child and their family.

Skyla’s sessions are strengths-based, playful and child-led. She brings a calm presence to therapy while using her bubbly personality to build meaningful connections with children and their families. She believes safety and connection provide an important foundation for participation and learning and takes the time to understand each child.

Skyla has experience supporting children with Autism, ADHD, sensory processing differences, Global Developmental Delay, Developmental Coordination Disorder and Pica. She has developed a strong interest in working with nonspeaking and minimally speaking children and learning the unique ways each child communicates, connects and expresses themselves. Other areas of interest include early intervention, sensory processing, emotional regulation, school readiness and complex support needs. She enjoys looking beyond behaviour to understand what a child may be communicating and what their nervous system, environment or current demands may be telling us.

Skyla is also passionate about working alongside parents and caregivers, helping families better understand their child and find practical ways to support participation in everyday life. She values ongoing learning and believes every child and family brings something new to learn.
